Meet Dr. Marilyn Gaylor
Dr. Marilyn Gaylor, DDS, is a general, restorative, and cosmetic dentist who has maintained her private practice in Atlanta since 1996. She personally examines, diagnoses, and treats every patient, and she is currently accepting new general dentistry patients along with patients seeking cosmetic and restorative care. Her work is built on careful diagnosis, conservative treatment, natural-looking results, and restorations designed for long-term health and function. Dr. Gaylor earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Tennessee School of Dentistry in 1984. Since then she has completed extensive postgraduate education focused on how teeth, gums, jaw joints, and muscles work together:
- LD Pankey Institute: More than a decade of advanced study in comprehensive restorative dentistry.
- The Dawson Academy: Training in occlusion and bite harmony for TMJ therapy and long-term stability.
- Louisiana State University Cosmetic Dentistry Continuum: Completion of Parts I and II.

AACD Accreditation
In 2009, Dr. Gaylor earned Accreditation from the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, a credential that requires written and oral examinations and a series of clinical cases evaluated by examiners. She was recognized for this achievement at the AACD’s 25th Anniversary Scientific Session in Honolulu, Hawaii. One of her accreditation cases was published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry.

Dr. Gaylor’s Approach to Patient Care
Dr. Gaylor believes that good dentistry begins with understanding the cause of a problem. A cracked tooth may be the result of grinding, and worn teeth may point to a bite that needs attention. By diagnosing the underlying issue first, she can recommend treatment that protects your natural teeth and holds up over time.
She considers the most conservative effective option first, whether that means monitoring a small concern, choosing bonding or no prep veneers over more invasive work, or straightening teeth with Invisalign before placing restorations. When restorations are needed, she designs them to look natural and suit each patient’s face and bite.
General, Restorative, and Cosmetic Dentistry
Dr. Gaylor provides general dentistry including checkups, cleanings, gum disease treatment, TMJ therapy, and emergency care, along with restorative dentistry such as crowns, bridges, dentures, dental implant restorations, and full mouth rehabilitation. Her cosmetic dentistry services include porcelain veneers, bonding, whitening, gum lifts, and smile makeovers.
Dr. Gaylor restores dental implants but does not surgically place them. When an implant is needed, she coordinates placement with a surgical specialist and then designs and places the final restoration. For patients who choose IV sedation, sedation is administered and monitored by an anesthesiologist.
